Big Ten Network & Comcast

Dear MSU Alumni and Spartan Fans,

Earlier today, Comcast Corporation and the Big Ten Network announced an agreement for Comcast to carry Big Ten Network programming on TV, broadband, and video-on-demand in time for the 2008 college football season.

This is fantastic news and represents enormous progress toward the university’s long-stated goal of having broad access for MSU and Big Ten athletics programming. As Ron Mason noted in a message to fans and alumni nearly a year ago, though, the birth of a new network—the Big Ten’s own network—while tremendously exciting, is also frustrating.

We appreciate the patience and dedication of you, our fans and alumni, and we realize that some of you still will not have in-home access to the MSU games you’d love to see. But with Comcast on board, we’re very optimistic that agreements with other major carriers will soon follow.

The network continues to negotiate with these carriers and believes the Comcast agreement bodes well for these talks.

Go Green!

Does anyone know whether the Comcast/BTN agreement will enable Northern California Comcast subsribers to get the BTN?
