Now that the season of 4pm weekday and 9am Sat/Sun morning MSU basketball games are behind, March Madness is in full swing! We have coming up in the next few weeks many exciting MSU sporting events taking place. We have the MSU Men’s hockey team fighting to try and make it back to the Frozen Four (which they won a few years back!), and we have the MSU Men’s Basketball Team looking to make it back-to-back trips to the Final Four. Of course, do not forget about the MSU Women’s Basketball team who finished the season ranked in the Top 25 looking to make a deep tourney run as well.
Because game times and scheduling will be very quick and brief, I ask that you please keep checking back to our site www.sfbayspartans.org for up to the minute watch party locations and events coming up. Thank you for your continued support as we roll into my favorite time of year !
The first March Madness Watch Party will be tomorrow night as your Spartans take on the Gophers. A perfect Friday Happy Hour tip-off time!

Happy Pre-Halloween Weekend Bay Area Spartans!
With the season just a little over half way complete the Spartans look to continue their winning ways as they battle the Iowa Hawkeyes this Saturday Night at Spartan Stadium. This is the first true big game of the year as Iowa is currently ranked No. 7 in the nation and is undefeated coming into the game.
With a win this weekend, MSU can really turn this year around! The game starts at 4pm PST (not 9am yay!) and will be viewed at the normal spots in Palo Alto (Old Pro), San Francisco (Pete’s Tavern), and Walnut Creek (Stadium Pub).
As an added bonus, I am personally organizing a mini Palo Alto Bar Crawl immediately following the game win or lose. We will rock out in Palo Alto! So come on out and watch MSU march into first place in the Big Ten!
MSU is on a roll winning their last 2 games in a row! This week they try to go over the .500 mark for the first time since week 1 as they take on the Wildcats of Northwestern.
Game time is at 9am here on the West Coast and we will be having our watch events at our typical 3 locations in Palo Alto (Old Pro), San Francisco (Pete’s Tavern), and Walnut Creek (Stadium Pub). So plan to come on out, get a friend to join you, and let’s watch MSU roll their way to another victory together!
See you there.

So MSU is now 1-2… are you worried? I’m not. I know Coach D has got the MSU Spartans ready for action this weekend as they take on the Badgers in Madison. Your SF Bay Alumni Club will also be there ready to root their Spartans on to victory. We need more people to come out and watch the games! We will be having our watch parties at the 3 usual locations in the Bay Area: SF (Pete’s Tavern), Walnut Creek (Stadium Pub), and Palo Alto (Old Pro).
Maps and other venue information is available on the Where to Watch page.
The game starts at 9:00 AM PT… HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!
After a heartbreaking loss to CMU, your Spartans will rebound against the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame in South Bend this weekend. MSU is looking to extend their win streak on the Irish’s home turf and go for 7 in a row on the road.
You can catch all the action with your MSU Alumni Club at locations in SF (Pete’s Tavern), Walnut Creek (Stadium Pub), and Palo Alto (Old Pro).
The game starts at 12:30 PM PT, and let’s get out there to root on MSU to victory!
Maps and other location information available on the Where to Watch page.
See you there!
ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?!
Happy football season MSU Alumni of the SF Bay Area! This Saturday the MSU Spartans take on the Chippewas from Central Michigan at Spartan Stadium. In order to encourage the most attendance, we will be supporting 3 different watch parties in SF (Pete’s Tavern), Walnut Creek (Stadium Pub), and Palo Alto (Old Pro).. Hopefully one of those is near by and you can make it!
Kickoff is 9am PST (noon EST).
Maps and other location information available on the Where to Watch page.
So come out and root the Spartans to victory in 2009!
As always, if you are watching the game somewhere else, let others know where you will be at by posting a comment here on the site or the Facebook group so others can join you.
This is it! This is for the all the marbles! MSU is taking on Penn State this Saturday in Happy Valley for a shot at a share of the Big Ten Championship!
This has been a long season, and it has been such a long time since MSU Football has been in this position. The game starts at 12:30 p.m. PT and your alumni club will be gathering to watch at the Old Pro in Palo Alto. This game is going to be huge and we need everyone to come out and root MSU on. With a win, MSU can tie Ohio State for the Big Ten Crown.
However, if Michigan beats Ohio State and MSU can beat Penn State, then MSU will win the Big Ten outright! So if anyone wants to get to the Old Pro early to help root U of M on, that game starts at 9:30 a.m. PT as well. Call up any Wolverines you know and bring your rabbit’s foot, because MSU needs all the luck we can muster this Saturday. Also, whether they win or lose, please be on the look out for upcoming info about New Year’s Day Bowl Plans as well. MSU will be playing sometime on or after January 1 …NOW LET’S JUST SEE WHERE!
If you’re planning to join us at the watch party, please post a comment to the site or RSVP on the club Facebook page… look forward to seeing you there!
Directions to Old Pro or other Bay Area places to watch are available here on the site.
So at 6-1… Gosh that feels good saying that! At 6-1, the Top Ranked College Football Team in Michigan… GOSH… IT feels even better saying that! We’ll be battling for perhaps sole possession of 1st place in the BIG TEN! That is even better!
Our Spartans take their magical 2008 ride to another level as they take on the Buckeyes this Saturday in East Lansing. The game starts at 12:30 p.m. PST and will be shown nationally on ABC. This weeks watch party is going to where the turnout has been the strongest… at the Old Pro in Palo Alto!
Last event at the Old Pro, we had 15 people… so I’m challenging the entire Bay Area to get up for this and let’s make it at least 45 Spartans! If we do get that many, we may need our own section so I am looking for folks to RSVP ASAP so I can contact the bar for reserved seating. If we can not get that many, then we will send out another blast letting people know that they we need to get there early to secure tables.
Keep in mind that the Old Pro always has a huge Ohio State alumni turn out, so we’re asking everybody to make an extra effort this weekend so we can fill the place floor to rafters with GREEN!
For the those living in San Francisco, we’ll also be hosting another CalTrain caravan from the city down to Palo Alto in case any one wants to get a huge caravan going! Since we did not get a huge response last time – sorry Justin – we want to get RSVP’s for the train as well. We will be taking the 10am Train from SF and it will arrive in Palo Alto by 11:02am.
If you are interested in showing those Buckeyes whose boss, please RSVP to email@example.com and come out for a what will be an awesome game and another MSU Victory!
Directions are available if you need them.
After last week’s monsoon victory over Florida Atlantic 17-0, your 2-1 Spartans look to create their own luck against 3-0 Fighting Irish this Saturday!
Your Bay Area Alumni Club is planning a watch party on the peninsula to watch MSU battle ND. Game time at Spartans Stadium is 12:30 p.m. PST. The watch party will be at The Old Pro in downtown Palo Alto. It will get crowded so if everybody can get there well ahead of game time to secure seats that will be best. There are normally spaces upstairs on the second floor that are great spots to watch the game!
Just look for the GREEN Section this Saturday. On a personal note, attendance has been really low for some of these games, so let’s all come out to support MSU and let everybody know why it is great to be GREEN!
For those people who are interested in traveling from San Francisco to Palo Alto this Saturday, we want to try and take over Caltrain on the way down the peninsula. It’s only a short walk to The Old Pro and it sure beats driving up and down 101. We will be on the 10 a.m. Caltrain from Sf to Palo Alto to the game… so if you are interested in taking over an entire car, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
See you at the Old Pro on Saturday!
