“Speed Reading the Book of Life”

Did you just see the movie Contagion and are now wondering about the plausibility of a global pandemic? The last time you were at the gas pump, did you think there had to be a more efficient way to fuel a car? Did the movie Jurassic Park leave you speculating about genetic engineering?

We are pleased to bring David DeWitt, PhD, one of MSU’s experts on genomics, to the Bay Area to talk about how researchers at MSU are working every day to unravel the mysteries of DNA and how DNA sequencing is transforming biological research.

At MSU, scientists are using this newly available genetic information to increase crop productivity and disease resistance, observe evolution in action, map infectious microbial outbreaks, and design new biofuels.

Join us for an insider’s look at how the revolution in genetic technology is driving some of the country’s most exciting research at MSU in a presentation geared towards all alumni, not just science majors.
